A parchment signing ceremony adds a beautiful, tangible element to your wedding vows. Imagine creating your own personal scroll as a keepsake which captures your vows in a way photos can't quite match.

During the ceremony, I can help you incorporate this meaningful moment in several ways. Some couples choose to write their vows on beautiful parchment paper and sign them during the ceremony. Others prefer to have the complete text of their vows or a special reading written out, which they sign together with their witnesses. Some couples even write their promises to their blended family, having children sign as well. This can be particularly moving.

Both the presentation and the signing can be as elegant or as simple as you like. Some couples use handcrafted paper with calligraphy whilst others use simple scrolls tied with the ribbons from their handfasting. If you’re a creative couple perhaps an artistic friend could illustrate your parchment with meaningful symbols and flowers from your wedding day.

A parchment signing can also be used in a naming ceremony to show the commitment you and the mentors are making to your child.

All of these ceremony elements can be beautifully woven into a wedding day, and as your celebrant, I'm here to help you choose and personalise the ones that best reflect your relationship. You can check out my previous posts on ceremony elements below or email me at nick.wells@thismoment.org.uk if you’d like to talk about how we could work together.

I’d love to hear from you.
