A naming ceremony is a beautiful way to celebrate new beginnings – whether welcoming a baby to your family or honoring a new identity. It's a heartfelt occasion where loved ones can come together to show their commitment to supporting and nurturing this special journey.
Your ceremony will be unique - just like your family. Whether you'd prefer an intimate gathering at home or a grand celebration, we can weave in personal touches that reflect your values, culture and heritage.
Working Together
We'll work together to create a unique ceremony with special meaning to your family. Usually lasting 30 – 45 minutes, it can include any or all of the following:
A welcome
Readings, poems or music
The stating of the name and reasons behind the choice of name
Parents’/Carers' promises
Supporters’ promises
Grandparents’ promises
Parents’/Carers' vows to each other
Symbolic acts such as planting a tree, pebble printing, star naming, flower naming or sand blending.
Acts to highlight your heritage and culture.
Hopes for the future
A toast of celebration
Acknowledgement of absent guests.

Contacting
We'll start with a friendly chat. We can meet in person, talk over the phone, or connect online. Just head over to my Bookings Page to set up a discovery call and we can talk about your initial ideas. Don't worry if you're unsure at this stage. I'm here to offer ideas and guidance if you need them.
Writing
With every ceremony I write, I aim to get as close to perfect first time as possible. However, I’m not precious. If there are things you want me to add, change or re-work, that’s fine. We’ll tweak it so that it’s just right for your family. I'll send you the first draft, we'll discuss any amendments you want and then I'll re-draft it for you in the light of our discussions.
Booking
I only ever book one naming ceremony per day. On your day, I'm your family celebrant. Your booking includes our planning meetings, any ceremony elements you choose, a venue visit, rehearsal and, of course, the writing and celebrancy at your ceremony.
Rehearsing
If necessary, I'll do a venue visit to familiarise myself with your chosen location and to get to know any staff who you'll also have been working with. If you wish, we can do a rehearsal, which can be a great opportunity to run through any technical parts of the ceremony, freeing you up to focus on your family and enjoy the ceremony.
Planning
We'll sit down and go through everything together, We'll talk about your story as a family, choose music, discuss traditions and elements that are important to you and craft any vows for your or your chosen guardians.
Celebrating
I’ll arrive early to ensure your ceremony all runs smoothly. I’ll be there for you, alongside you - giving pep talks to anyone who might need them and enabling you to enjoy your experience.
And finally, I’ll conduct your bespoke ceremony, setting the tone for the many happy years beyond for your family.
